Two crowns will be handed out this weekend at Screven Motor Complex in the Georgia Outlaw Championships as the Ultimate Southeast Late Model Series hosts its finale on Saturday, Nov. 18, and the Fastrak Crate Late Models host a two-day show beginning on Friday, Nov. 17.

On Friday, Fastrak will try out a new qualifying format that is going to throw a curveball at the drivers. On Saturday, the Ultimate Late Model regulars can expect a bunch of national touring stars to show up now that both the Lucas Dirt and World of Outlaws Late Model Series have wrapped up their seasons.

Who To Watch

Tyler Millwood (Ultimate Super Late Models)

Millwood got off to a slow start this season with no top fives and three results in the mid-teens in the first four races. Beginning with the Rattlesnake Rumble at Rome (GA) Speedway, he started accumulating top fives — including seven coming in his last 10 attempts. With a 33-point lead over second in the standings, Millwood can go for broke in terms of seeking a win this weekend.

Jason Welshan (Ultimate Super Late Models)

After scoring back-to-back top fives during the summer, Welshan has consistently finished between eighth and 11th in his last seven Ultimate Late Model attempts. The pressure is off his shoulders as well and that will contribute to a better than average result.

Dennis Franklin (Ultimate Super Late Models)

In his last six Ultimate Southeast Late Model events, Franklin has been all or nothing. Four of those races ended seventh or better; two landed outside the top 10. Fanklin’s highlight? A second-place finish in the Brookshire Memorial at Laurens (SC) County Speedway.

null

Benji Hicks (Fastrak)

The points championship is all but decided in the Ultimate Southeast Late Model Series, but the same cannot be said for Fastrak. A 22-point advantage over Jensen Ford put Hicks in the driver’s seat, but that could evaporate quickly if Hicks has trouble either Friday or Saturday night.

Jensen Ford (Fastrak)

In order to catch Hicks, Ford is going to need a little help. He needs to finish more than 10 spots ahead of his rival both nights. The best way to earn points is to win, however, and Ford has already one win in the books this July at Toccoa (GA) Speedway.
