Sometimes, the story-book ending, the Hollywood movie script, the stuff fairy-tales are made of, well, they actually happen. Saturday at Dominion Raceway, it actually happened for Mini Tyrrell and the CARS Tour during the "Mini's Mission 125."

On a normal CARS Tour weekend, there’s no question that everybody in the pit area is thinking about two things: Winning the race, and how to make their car go faster. But not this weekend. Not when the CARS Tour heads to Dominion Raceway. On this weekend there’s a third item that is even more important, and that’s coming together to make a group of sick children and their families forget about their ailments for a day or two.

It’s been a while since race fans have heard the voice of Rick Allen. After calling NASCAR Cup Series races on NBC Sports from 2015 until 2024, and before that the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for many years, Allen was left on the sidelines entering the 2025 TV deals for NASCAR. But on Saturday night, fans of the CARS Tour will hear Allen’s voice alongside Blake McCandless on the FloRacing broadcast of the “Mini’s Mission 125” from Dominion Raceway.

When Timmy Tyrrell was six years old, his friend was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Even as a six-year-old, the kid known as “Mini” knew he had to find a way to help his friend, Ella, and her family. At an age when many kids are just focused on what they’re going to wear to school the next day, Tyrrell was starting a foundation with the aid of his parents to raise money for kids like Ella who were fighting pediatric cancer and “Mini’s Mission” was born.
