picture of 2020 USAC Top Moments

Ticking away the moments that make up a raceday, these are the most amazing single performances that don’t really fit into any other category.  These are the individual moments that were either significant in some form or fashion in a historical sense, or were moments in time that immediately established themselves as ones we wouldn’t soon forget from the 2020 USAC National season.

1. Larson Turns The Dirt World Upside Down.. And Sideways

Oct 28, 2020

It’s highly difficult to come up with just a single precise moment that can encapsulate Kyle Larson’s 2020 USAC appearances in both USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midgets and USAC Silver Crown.  With that said, in a day and age where many of us feel like we’ve seen just about everything there is to see on a racetrack, one pass by Larson made us stand up and say “Wow.”

The most talked about pass for the lead this year came via Larson on a lap 69 restart during the Aug. 23 Hoosier Hundred at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.  While running in the second position with 32 laps remaining in his first Silver Crown start in eight years, Larson immediately darted to the outside of race leader C.J. Leary at the drop of the green flag, then cranked his car completely sideways in front of Leary as he blitzed to the top spot for good.  Upon entry to turn one, Leary slid up the racetrack.

Despite a bit of a challenge late from Leary, Larson never relented once he got to the front to win the 100-mile race.
