The best Dirt Late Model drivers converge upon Eldora Speedway for the 56th annual World 100, featuring two nights of preliminary action preceding Saturday’s 100-lap, $100,000-to-win finale for DIRTcar Super Late Models. The three-day event begins with twin 25-lap, $12,000-to-win split-field shows on Thursday-Friday before Saturday’s heat races and consolations precede the 100-lap, $100,000-to-win finale.

While the racing world prepares for the 56th running of the World 100 at Eldora Speedway, it also celebrates its sixth decade as one of short track racing’s most prestigious events.  As the history of the race grows through variations of racecars and generations of people on both sides of the catch fence, one thing remains a constant; a truly great history.

The entry list for the 56th World , scheduled for Sept. 10-12 at Eldora Speedway, grew to 77 drivers as of Wednesday. The event is seeking its fifth consecutive year with more than 100 entries, and drivers may enter through Thursday’s 5 p.m. drivers’ meeting.

National Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Larry Moore, the first three-time winner of the World 100 amid a legendary racing career, died early Thursday at a nursing facility in his native Dayton, Ohio, after an extended illness. The -year-old's passing was announced by the Hall of Fame, calling him “one of the greatest drivers to ever sit behind the wheel.”
