After missing last year’s inaugural Dalton Myers 54, Kyle Bronson has something to prove as he returns from his touring season to attack the home track.

Kyle Bronson hopes to cap his 2017 season with a win in the second annual Dalton Myers 54 at East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, FL, on Saturday. Last year, Bronson was unable to race in the inaugural event because of an altercation the week prior with Keith Nosbisch, but he’s confident in making a go of it this year.

“Our plan is to go win this race here,” Bronson said. “We’ve always been pretty good at East Bay. We went out last weekend and tried a few things. We’ve been working on a couple of things the last time we raced down there just to get prepared for this weekend. I think we have as good a chance of winning this thing as anybody this weekend.”

In his last showing at East Bay on Dec. 2, Bronson narrowly missed the podium and finished fourth. Originally, Bronson did not plan on racing in the first two weekends of December and was a late addition to the $1,000-to-win weekly race won by Doug Horton.

Bronson is ready to close out the year at East Bay, the track where he honed his racing skills.

“I think it always races great,” Bronson said. “It depends on how they prepare the track, but usually you can plan on it racing good when you’re there. I always like racing there because it’s where I grew up and really cut my teeth. I think it will be a great race for the fans and everyone who races it.”

In 2017, Bronson hit the road to compete in the most national touring races in a single season so far in his career. Bronson racked up 11 wins including a $10,000-to-win NeSmith event at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL. After having numerous good runs in major events around the country this year, Bronson announced at the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show that he will run the full Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in 2018 and add other Super Late Model, Crate Late Model, and Modified races where he can fit them in.

“It’s going great,” Bronson said on the topic of his season. “We’ve been racing a lot of big races this year and we got out on the road a lot more. Same thing we’re going to try to do next year. Hopefully everything works out as we start with Lucas Oil next year, which will be awesome. We’re going to try to stay pretty busy racing next year.”

Bronson will go into the 2018 season determined to show he can race regularly with the big stars.

“We’re going to race the Lucas Oil deal and try to run the best we can in the points and try for the Rookie of the Year title — hell maybe a championship by the end of the year,” Bronson said.

After a full year of racing Supers with the top on, Bronson is not overly excited to run one of East Bay’s biggest races topless, because his team has to scramble to change his car's setup for the new aerodynamic properties.

“Personally, I don’t care for topless racing,” Bronson shared. “You race all year long with your roofs on and then you go into one of the biggest races of the year and have to change your setup. It doesn’t really matter because everyone has to do it, and it’s a big race we’re going to go and try to make the best of it.”
