It might be time to put Kaden Honeycutt’s name on the deed to Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida, as it appears that the Aledo, Texas native all but owns the historic half-mile race track. The defending Snowball Derby champion was fastest in three divisions at the end of the “money round” at Saturday’s Snowball Derby Preview test session.

For the second year in a row, Honeycutt scored a hat trick of money round wins at the Snowball Derby Preview. In 2024, Honeycutt was fastest in the Super Late Model division, Pro Late Model division, and the Pro Truck division. He then went on to score the victory in the 2024 Snowball Derby a couple of weeks later.

This year, Honeycutt once again was fastest among the Super Late Models that took part in the test session with a fast lap of 16.560 seconds. Brandon Lopez, whom Honeycutt won the 2024 CARS Tour Pro Late Model championship for, was second quickest in Super practice with a lap of 16.573 seconds. Casey Roderick, Dustin Smith, and Kasey Kleyn rounded out the top five. Two-time Snowball Derby champion Kyle Busch was sixth fastest in his Bryson-Lopez No. 51 with a fast lap of 16.696 seconds.

Honeycutt also led the way in Pro Truck practice for the second year in a row with a fast lap of 18.632 seconds. He also was fastest in Modifieds of Mayhem practice with a lap of 17.520 seconds.

In total, Honeycutt walked out of Pensacola on Saturday with $900 in cash. He scored $500 for winning the Super Late Model money round, and $250 for the Pro Trucks and Modifieds of Mayhem sessions each.

Florida’s TJ DeCaire took the $300 cash prize for winning the Pro Late Model portion of the Preview as he and his Bryson-Lopez Racing team prepare to hunt for the victory in the Snowflake 125 on Saturday, December 6. NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series crew chief Dylan Cappello was second fastest with a lap of 16.846. Brandon Lopez was third, with Sylas Ripley and Jim Wall completing the top five in Snowflake practice.

Following the conclusion of Saturday’s practice sessions, the Crown Stock Derby 40 was held. Chris Salter scored the victory over Adam Salter. Austin Reeves, Chris Mitchell, and Hunter Lambert completed the top five.

With the Snowball Derby Preview in the books, all focus now shifts to the 58th Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway.

The 58th Annual Snowball Derby will be broadcast live on FloRacing for the second year in a row. The Snowball Derby is available to all FloRacing subscribers with a yearly or monthly subscription. Race fans can subscribe to FloRacing by clicking here.

The 58th Annual Snowball Derby festivities will begin on Tuesday, December 2 with the annual Kickoff Party, being held this year at The Ticket Sports Bar in Pensacola. FloRacing will broadcast the Kickoff Party live at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.

Festivities at Five Flags Speedway get underway on Wednesday, December 3 with the annual parking of the haulers and pit party. Late Model teams, both Pro and Super Late Model, will draw for qualifying positions at the stage on the front stretch.

Thursday will see the first on-track action of the busy weekend when the Super Late Models and the Pro Late Models hit the track for a full morning and afternoon of practice. Later that night the Sportsman, Pure Stocks, and Pro Trucks will take to the track for their feature events.

Fast Friday will see more practice for the Super Late Models and the Pro Late Models leading up to time trials for the 58th Annual Snowball Derby at 6 p.m. CT. The top 30 drivers will lock themselves into the field for Sunday’s main event. The nightcap will feature the Modified of Mayhem 2025 Championship Race, plus a Crown Stock Invitational.

Saturday is by far the busiest day at the track with practice in the morning for the Late Models before the Allen Turner Snowflake 125 cars take to the track in the mid-afternoon. Following time trials the last chance races for the Snowflake 125 and the 58th Annual Snowball Derby will occur. The 22nd Annual Allen Turner Snowflake 125 will roll at 7 p.m., followed by the Outlaw Division.

It all leads up to Sunday, the 58th running of the Snowball Derby. Green flag will be at 1 p.m. CT for the 300-lap Super Late Model event.
