High Limit Skagit Nationals Saturday Results At Skagit Raceway

Kubota High Limit Racing turned its attention to the fifth annual Skagit Nationals at Washington's Skagit Raceway this weekend, which this year boasted one of the most lucrative winner's purses in all of Sprint Car racing at $126,000-to-win come Saturday night.

Capping off his dominant, three-race sweep in dramatic fashion, Rico Abreu rallied around race-long pacesetter Justin Peck with eight laps left Saturday to win his second straight Skagit Nationals. Abreu, who banked $156,000 from the weekend including prelim wins Thursday ($10,000) and Friday ($20,000), beat Peck by 0.900 of a second.

Until his move for the lead on lap 33 — a slider into turn one — Peck had led all 32 laps from the pole. Four stoppages slowed the 22-minute feature: the opening-lap caution for Dominic Scelzi and Robbie Price colliding; lap 10 for Brenham Crouch, who spun in turn two; lap 14 for Danny Sams III and Crouch wrecking together in turn two; and lap 15 for Brad Sweet, who spun out of 15th.
