The penultimate practice for the 109th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway took place Monday as the betting favorite, Chip Ganassi Racing's Alex Palou, set the pace, clocking the fastest lap at 226.765 mph.

Helio Castroneves, a four-time Indy 500 winner, followed closely in second at 226.641 mph with Ganassi-partnered Meyer Shank Racing. Takuma Sato, who starts second in the Indy 500, secured third with a speed of 226.087 mph, while Jack Harvey and Ryan Hunter-Reay rounded out the top five at 226.048 mph and 225.969 mph, respectively.

Underdog Indy 500 polesitter Robert Shwartzman didn't show much speed, clocking in at 26th overall.

Rookie Nolan Siegel impressed with a sixth-place finish at 225.733 mph, and two-time defending champion Josef Newgarden landed eighth at 225.597 mph despite Team Penske's controversy. Kyle Larson managed 11th, an improvement from his 21st qualifying spot.

The session saw a total of 2067 laps completed, with Christian Rasmussen as the only on-track incident in his session spin.
