Barre, VT — The teams of the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series are gearing up for their first event of the season at Thunder Road International Speedbowl as part of the 61st Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on Sunday, May 26. After rain postponed the much-anticipated series debut at Thompson Speedway in April, the Monaco Modifieds have run out of fingernails to bite, impatiently waiting to start their season on the highbanks of the Nation’s Site of Excitement.

Famously named as drivers who live by the Grace of God and 600 horsepower, the Monaco Modifieds bring the thrilling open wheeled masters of Southern New England on a grand New England tour. The 3rd Annual Granite City 100 will pay a $10,000 winners share following what is sure to be an exciting 100 lap battle of greats, set to drive with their hearts in their throats with their foot to the firewall in an all-out brawl to the checkered flag.

Defending Granite City 100 winner Ronnie Williams of Ellington, Connecticut has already voiced his excitement for the Monaco Modified return to Thunder Road.

“What a place! They’ve done such a beautiful job…I wish there was more than just one event there,” said Williams. “The goal is to be competitive and give ourselves a shot to win. We had a really fast car there in 2023, Adam Skowyra and the team provide me with a race car to win at each place and it was a big accomplishment to show up with them to a track they had never seen and be as dominant as we were last season. If he does his job and I do mine, I truly feel we are unstoppable.”

Williams isn’t the only one prepped and ready for the Series’ return to Thunder Road. Former Supermodified Thunder Road victor and 2022 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Jon McKennedy, recent Modified Racing Series winner Matt Swanson, ‘The Sultan of Stafford’ Woody Pitkat and Jake ‘The Jet’ Johnson are earmarked favorites among the early entry list. Defending Monaco Modifieds champion and eight-time series champion Matt Hirschman will also be among the favorites.

The brave pilots of the lightning-fast Monaco Modifieds return to the Nation’s Site of Excitement, Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl, on Sunday, May 26 for the $10,000 to win Granite City 100! Along with 100 laps for the open-wheeled ground-pounders comes the 61s Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic 125 for the Maplefield/Irving Late Models to start both the King of the Road championship campaign but also the new Late Model Triple Crown! The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, rk Miles Street Stocks and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors will also be in action for a jam-packed day of excitement on the Barre highbanks!
