NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Night 7 of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway proved to be the longest and most eventful in the event so far.

For the first time in her young career, Katie Hettinger will be venturing out west to compete in a major stock car event.

When a track has been around as long as Hickory Motor Speedway has, the records at that track are rarely broken. But, on the night that “The Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars” celebrated its 72nd birthday, Katie Hettinger broke one of those records.
