Storylines Entering Saturday's World 100

Make no mistake about it, the World 100 at Eldora Speedway is one of the most difficult motorsports events to qualify for each year. Track owner Tony Stewart recognized that and announced Saturday that the starting lineup for the 52nd World 100 would be starting four additional drivers.

Traditionally, the World 100 has started 24 drivers for the 100-lap main event. With the addition of four drivers, 28 cars will take the green flag on Saturday night at "The Big E."

This announcement comes after it was announced earlier this year that the 52nd World 100 would pay a record $5,200 to start, an increase of over $2,000 from last year's purse. The winner of the World 100 will receive a $55,000 check and the coveted globe trophy.

Saturday's 28-car field will be set by six heat races and two b-features. Each heat race will transfer the top three finishers, while each b-feature will now transfer four drivers. The top two drivers in the "Every Lap Matters" point standings from Thursday and Friday's preliminary action that fail to qualify through heat races will start 19th and 20th.

Heat racing is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET, with b-features and the 52nd World 100 to follow.
