The MARS Racing Series will kick off the 2022 season this weekend with one of the biggest events in series history. After 10 years at LaSalle Speedway, the 11th Annual Thaw Brawl will move to Davenport Speedway (IA) and feature the largest payout in event history.

If a driver can sweep the two-day event, they will leave Davenport, Iowa with $30,000. Friday's 40-lap feature will pay $10,000 to the winner and set the stage for Saturday's 70-lap, $20,000-to-win main event.

More than 30 drivers, including some of the most-well known names in Dirt Late Model racing, have already committed to the event.

Two-time defending MARS champion Brian Shirley will lead the charge as he begins his journey towards a third straight championship. Hudson O'Neal, the winner of last July's MARS thriller at Davenport, will join the field as he looks for a repeat performance at the Iowa dirt track. Bobby Pierce, who won the 2021 Summer Nationals stop at the track, is expected to contend for the victory as well.

Other drivers who have committed to the event include Shannon Babb, Tyler Erb, Chris Simpson, Jason Feter, Rich Bell and Ryan Unzicker.

The Thaw Brawl will be the first time the MARS Racing Series competes at Davenport Speedway since a thriller last July that earned 2021 DirtonDirt.com Race of the Year honors.
