411 Motor Speedway announced late Wednesday night that it would be hosting the $5,000-to-win Spring Sizzler on Saturday, May 16.

411 Motor Speedway Adds LIVE Race Saturday

A fan-free, Super Late Model-only event titled the Spring Sizzler will be contested on Sat., May 16, at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn., and broadcast live to subscribers of FloRacing, track promoter Mitch McCarter announced Wednesday night.

A $5,000 first-place prize has been posted for the 40-lap feature, which will cap a program of time trials, dash and qualifying heats. Racer and promoter Ray Cook and his crew will be on hand to handle technical inspection and race direction.

McCarter has been in direct contact with the proper officials in Sevier County in order to clear his plan to open his oval for racing in a manner that follows all guidelines and recommendations amid the coronavirus crisis. In addition, local law enforcement officials will be on the grounds with deputies the night of the event to ensure proper social distancing measures will be enforced. No fans will be allowed in the grandstands and race teams will be required to park at least 10 feet away from each other.

An open practice for all weekly divisions — including Super Late Models — that compete at 411 Motor Speedway will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at a cost of $20 per person. The pits will be cleared at 2:15 pm. and then reopened for the Spring Sizzler with pit passes sold for $40.

The event will follow Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series rules with the droop rule in effect; the tire rule will allow Hoosier 1350s and 1600s and American Racer 48 and 56 compound (no 29.0 rubber on the left-rear). The entry fee will be $110 per car (includes transponder rental) and $50 tow money will be paid to any driver not making 22-car starting field.

The live broadcast will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET with Chris Tilley — the voice of the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals — and Michael Despain calling the action. For more information visit www.411motorspeedway.net.
