Anthony Sanders joins the Ultimate Southeast Late Model full-timers to run at Dublin (NC) Motor Speedway on Saturday, Oct. 7, in an event that will stream LIVE on FloRacing.com

Sanders is a regional Super Late Model driver who has been splitting his season mostly between the Carolina Clash and Ultimate series. Sanders, like many drivers in the region, has chosen not to chase a particular series or race for a points win. This freedom lets him make the weekly choice of where to run.

“We chose this year not to really follow a particular points system or series," Sanders said. "I’ve been running most of the Carolina Clash races and Ultimate races that we can make it to. Depending on what week we look at where each series is at, and we decide what race will benefit us the most to run that that week."

The 2017 season has been a wild one for Sanders. Motor problems have been the thorn in this small team’s side. Last weekend Sanders and his team had to skip out of the Carolina Clash running at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA, because they knew that their motor would not stack up against some of the larger newer ones on the track.

“We were kinda in a situation where we felt that our motor program wasn’t up to par to run that large of a track,” Sanders said. “So we chose to run at 311 with the Blue Ridge Outlaw Series. We hate that we didn’t get to go to Wythe, because I love that race track and Fred Brown up there does a great job with the race track and we love to support the Clash. I felt like if we went we would run top five if we were lucky, but it wasn’t in our best interest to go up there and try to run against the motors that some of these guys have.”

The good news in skipping Wythe is that Sanders got the chance to practice extra at 311, which we will be running next Friday with the Ultimate series. They ended up qualifying fourth and finishing second while leading laps during the race. Sanders was happy to get back to the track after it had been dormant for a few years.

“It’s been a very good race track to me over the years," he said. "They’ve been shut down for the last three to four years, and I haven’t had the chance to run up there a lot. It’s a great facility and I’ve ran my Crate and my Super up there a lot back in the day. I feel like we have a good shot there.”

Sanders is excited about running Dublin, being back with the Ultimate series, and has high hopes going into next Saturday’s feature.

“I’ve been there probably seven or eight times," Sanders said. "I’ve had pretty good runs every time that we’ve been there except if something major happens -- depends if we get caught up in a wreck. We’re usually pretty competitive there. I’ve had some top fives there before, so I like the race track.”

Sanders is also happy to return to Dublin because of how great the track is treated and represented by the promoter Richard Bailey, a man who puts the drivers first while not losing track of the importance of fans and the front gate. Sanders believes Bailey is what puts Dublin near the top of the list of his favorite tracks on which to race.

“He always tries to look out for the racers,” Sanders said, “I really like to support his race tracks when he does have Super races because he’ll shake your hand when you walk in and he’ll shake your hand when you leave. He’s very appreciative of all the guys that race for him. He works his butt off getting the race track ready. I’ve been there when it’s rained and most guys will call it but not Richard. He’ll stay there and he’ll work and get the place ready to go.”
