Kyle Busch’s unexpected passing in May brought the motorsports community to its knees. But now, that community is rallying around a cause that the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, and his wife Samantha, fought for every day. On Friday night, Bowman Gray Stadium will host the inaugural Kyle Busch Invitational with all proceeds going to benefit the Bundle of Joy Fund, the foundation that Kyle and Samantha started to help families through their infertility journeys.
Below you can find everything you need to know about the inaugural Kyle Busch Invitational at Bowman Gray Stadium, including entry lists, how to watch, and more.
What Is The Kyle Busch Invitational?
The Kyle Busch Invitational is an invite-only Legends Car and Bandolero race that will take place at the historic Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Friday, August 21.
Why Legends Cars and Bandoleros?
For the last few summers, Busch could be found at Charlotte Motor Speedway nearly every Tuesday night racing a Legends Car during the Summer Shootout. His son, Brexton, was also in competition in either a Bandolero or a Legends Car as well. Kyle Busch got his start in racing in Legends Cars in Las Vegas before graduating into pavement Late Models and eventually into the top ranks of NASCAR where he became a two-time champion and winner of 234 races across NASCAR’s top three divisions, the most in history.
Who Will Be Competing In The Kyle Busch Invitational?
The invite-only fields were capped at 51 for the Legends and 18 for the Bandoleros, each number picked because of how integral they were to Busch’s legacy.
In the Legends field, Busch’s son, Brexton, will be in competition. Brexton competed in the Summer Shootout this year in the Young Lions division. Brexton Busch will be joined by drivers across all Legends divisions like Jeff Bolen, the Masters Division champion at the Summer Shootout, Colton Hale, who won the Semi-Pro title at the Summer Shootout, Landon Thrasher, who claimed the Young Lions Summer Shootout championship, Caleb Heady, the 2022 SMART Modified Tour champion, and Joe Ryan Osborne, the car owner for many successful Legends racers including Keelan Harvick, Landen Lewis, Carter McMurray, Brexton Busch, and even Jesse Love.
In addition to the regulars from the Legends ranks, a handful of legends of Bowman Gray Stadium will also be in action including Burt Myers, winner of 107 Modified features and 11 championships at the Stadium. 19-time Modified winner Chris “The Showstopper” Fleming will be racing, along with “Superman” John Holleman IV who has 29 victories at Bowman Gray across three divisions, as well as a handful of Bandolero championships. A late Stadium addition is Junior Snow, who currently sits third in Bowman Gray Stadium Modified championship standings.
The full entry lists for both the Legends and Bandoleros can be found below.
How Can I Attend The Kyle Busch Invitational?
Race fans can purchase tickets for Friday’s Kyle Busch Invitational online or in-person at the Bowman Gray Stadium ticket offices. Adult tickets are $10 while kids ages 6-11 are just $2 and children five and under are free. All proceeds will directly benefit the Busch’s Bundle of Joy Fund.
What Is The Bundle Of Joy Fund?
The Bundle of Joy Fund is an organization founded by Samantha and Kyle Busch that directly helps families afford IVF treatments.
The Bundle of Joy Fund was started in 2015 following Kyle and Samantha’s own struggles with infertility during their journey to bring Brexton into the world. Since then, The Bundle of Joy fund has awarded over 150 grants valued at more than $2 million, and has helped bring more than 100 babies into the world.
