It’s been 35 years since Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway felt the rumble of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, but by the grace of God and 600 horsepower the groundpounders are finally making their long-awaited return on Saturday night.

Headlining the entry list is Stephen Kopcik, the current points leader and winner of the last two races. Kopcik heads to Oxford with momentum firmly on his side after scoring the first two victories of his NWMT career at Martinsville Speedway and Thompson Speedway.

Right on his heels, though, is the defending champion. Austin Beers lurks just seven points back of Kopcik. Beers hasn’t finished worse than sixth in the three races held so far, though he’s only led laps in one of those three races.

Just two points behind Beers in third is Tyler Rypkema and “Ole Blue.” Rypkema briefly led the points standings following his third-place run at Martinsville, but a 10th-place finish at Thompson is what set him back a bit compared to Kopcik and Beers.

Saturday’s 150-lap race at Oxford Plains Speedway is expected to see the green flag wave at 6:15 p.m. ET live on FloRacing. Fans can watch it all live as part of their FloRacing subscription.
