The 2025 Snowball Derby just got a little longer for race fans. 

After it was announced on Tuesday that the Modifieds of Mayhem portion of the event was being rescheduled to Monday, Dec. 8, the Florida weather unleashed heavy downpours that have impacted Thursday's schedule. 

As practice was set to place early on Dec. 4, the weather in Pensacola had other plans for the drivers who were gearing up to start their 2025 Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway. 

At this moment, all Super Late Model and Pro Late Model on-track activity for Thursday has been suspended for the day due to ongoing rain and storms in the area. There have been no released updates to the weekend's schedule of events at this time. An additional update regarding the support divisions for Thursday night will be made around 3 p.m. CT.

The 58th Annual Snowball Derby presented by FloSports returns to Five Flags Speedway from Dec. 3 to now Dec. 8, drawing many of the nation’s top Super Late Model drivers to Pensacola for short track racing’s most prestigious pavement event. 

The Derby anchors a full week of activity and remains the sport’s defining December showcase.

The race is a 300-lap Super Late Model feature and offers a $50,000 prize alongside the coveted Tom Dawson trophy. It also caps five days of on-track action that includes the Snowflake 125, the biggest Pro Late Model race of the year, which runs Saturday night and streams live on FloRacing. 

The Derby’s home, Five Flags Speedway, is a fast but abrasive half-mile oval that also hosts the Blizzard Series, Allen Turner Pro Late Models and the “Sunshine State 200” for the ASA STARS National Tour.

Fans can watch the Snowball Derby live exclusively on FloRacing, with full streaming access available across Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast, Apple TV and the FloSports app.

Schedule Update For Thursday, Dec. 4

A schedule update has been released from Five Flags Speedway. In the update, it is announced that all on-track activity for the Super Late Model and Pro Late Model visions have been called off for the remainder of the day. 

The schedule for the Pro Truck, Sportsman and Pure Stock races scheduled to take place in the evening of Dec. 4, will be revisited at 3 p.m. CT.

As of 11 AM ET, the 2025 Snowball Derby action has been delayed indefinitely as rain began in Pensacola, Fla. A large storm cell is passing through the area and at this moment, all schedule adjustments and racing adjustments are to be determined because of the weather. 

Pensacola Weather Forecast At Five Flags Speedway

The forecast includes a 98% chance of rain on Thursday, 96% on Friday and 94% on Saturday. Temperatures will be between 40 degrees and 64 degrees. 

Sunday and Monday have no rain in the forecast. 

What Is The Snowball Derby?

The Snowball Derby is a 300-lap Super Late Model race, but more importantly, it’s the biggest short track race contested on pavement each year. This year, a $50,000 prize and the coveted Tom Dawson trophy will once again be up for grabs.

The Super Late Model race is also the culmination of four days of racing at Five Flags Speedway. The event also includes the biggest Pro Late Model race of the year, the Snowflake 125, on Saturday night, which will also be broadcast live on FloRacing.
