Riverhead Raceway’s 300-lap spectacular that pays tribute to the now torn down Islip Speedway is upon us on Saturday. The NASCAR Modifieds will compete in the Islip 300 at Riverhead Raceway for the ninth time with a winner’s check of $12,000 up for grabs.

What Is The Islip 300?

The Islip 300 is a 300-lap pavement Modified race at Long Island’s Riverhead Raceway. Many Long Islanders and people within the Modified community have fond memories of Islip Speedway, which closed in 1984. Riverhead Raceway paints its walls to match the old look of Islip Speedway, and holds the 300-lap race just like Islip did back in its glory years.

The Islip 300 has found a new home at Riverhead Raceway where the race is now in its ninth year. Drivers like Ryan Preece, Matt Hirschman, and Anthony Nocella have won this race, along with others like Kyle Soper, Dillon Steuer, and Chase Grennan.

Who Is Racing In The Islip 300?

So far the Islip 300 entry list features a stout group of Riverhead regulars and a handful of tough out-of-towners ready to take that trophy over a bridge and off the Island. Matt Hirschman, who won this race in 2023, leads the invading charge along with Andy Jankowiak, and 14-year-old Paulie Hartwig III. 

Defending winner Chase Grennan leads a strong group of locals including Roger Turbush, Matthew Brode, Mark Stewart, Kyle Ellwood, and Dylan Slepian as they hope to keep the Islip 300 trophy on Long Island for another year.
