With prelims of the 55th running of The World 100 at Eldora Speedway starting Thursday, Sept.4, there is a rich history of historic races and even more impressive driving. So, from 1971 all the way to 2024, here’s a look at the previous World 100 winners and some of the most memorable ones.

On Oct. 3, 1971, the World 100 made its dirt track racing debut when Earl Baltes decided to create a championship event for the end of the dirt racing season. Bruce Gould would become the very first winner of the World 100 and had two other top-five finishes at the even before moving on to ARCA racing in 1973.

Flash forward 17 years, and one of the best motorsports drivers in the history of dirt racing would win his first title. Scott Bloomquist would claim his first World 100 title in 1988. Bloomquist would go on to win the World 100 four times.

In 2015, just one year after Bloomquist’s last World 100 victory, Jonathan Davenport would take home the trophy. Davenport has a total of five World 100 titles.

In the most recent running of the World 100 in 2024, Bobby Pierce claimed his second World 100 title.
