Just four races remain on the 2025 CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car calendar, and the battle to crown a champion is an all-out brawl. Five drivers are within 33 points as they make the trip south towards Florence Motor Speedway for Friday night’s 125-lap race.

Connor Hall, Landen Lewis, Kade Brown, Mini Tyrrell, and Landon Huffman all have their eyes on their first CARS Tour championship.

Now, we know what you’re thinking at this point. How does Huffman have a legitimate chance being 33 points back and having four drivers in front of him?

To answer that question we have to go back to the 2023 championship battle between Carson Kvapil and Brenden “Butterbean” Queen. That year, Queen found himself a whopping 41 points behind Kvapil with four races remaining, the same amount of races left as we have now. In those four races, Queen gained 36 points on Kvapil to lose out on the championship by just five points. Huffman is trailing Hall by 33 points, so it’s certainly possible that Huffman can make up that much ground.

Now that we’ve answered that question, let’s break down the rest of the points battle with just four races left, starting with points leader Connor Hall.

Hall and his JR Motorsports team have had a rollercoaster of a season. They started off by winning two of the first three races and finishing second in the one race they didn’t win. But then things started to get rough. Hall finished 18th at Orange County, 11th at Ace Speedway, and 10th at North Wilkesboro. He went to his home track of Langley Speedway expecting to dominate, but instead finished seventh. Things looked to be heading in the right direction again when he finished second at Dominion, but then he backed that up with a 12th at Caraway and 14th at Hickory. And both of those races could have been worse if not for crashes near the front of the field that allowed Hall to finish higher than where he had been running for most of each race. Fortunately, Hall is fresh off a top-five finish at Anderson where he ran inside the top five for most of the night, so maybe now they’re truly back on track as we head into the stretch run.

But even with all of that, Hall still leads the points standings by four points over Landen Lewis and Kevin Harvick Inc. Because for as much as Hall’s season has been a rollercoaster, so has Lewis’. After finishing 11th in the season-opener, Lewis rattled off five straight top 10 finishes, including back-to-back wins at Ace Speedway and North Wilkesboro. He then led 53 laps at Langley, but fell out of the race with a mechanical problem and finished 19th. After 10th-place finish at Dominion, Lewis was in position to win each of the next two races at Caraway and Hickory but was caught up in crashes in both while getting aggressive racing for the win. Lewis ran a much calmer race and went back to victory lane for the third time this season at Anderson.

Lewis’ finishes of 13th and 20th at Caraway and Hickory are the two that sting the most. In each of those races, Hall was mired deep in the field while Lewis was contending for the win. Even if he didn’t win either of them, just finishing in the top three in each would have given Lewis a double-digit lead over Hall right now. But, that’s why we run the races, right?

The Curious Case of Kade Brown sits third in points, 17 markers behind Hall. And we say that simply because you have to be curious about where Brown would be if he and R&S Race Cars could have scored a win by now. Brown has been the model of consistency throughout the season, having scored two more top 10 finishes than anybody else. Brown has finished in the top 10 in nine of the 11 races run. His only two finishes outside the top 10 were a 14th at North Wilkesboro and a 15th at Dominion. Brown was caught up in a first-lap crash at Dominion, but he fought to bring home a heavily-damaged race car to 15th in a field of 27 cars. Brown’s issue, aside from not winning, is that he has only finished in the top five on two occasions, and both of those came in March and April. He’s also only led 10 laps all season, all 10 of which came in the very first race of the year, so he’s been leaving valuable bonus points on the table.

That said, if Brown and his R&S Race Cars group led by Marcus Richmond can find a little bit more speed, Brown’s first CARS Tour championship is right there for the taking.

Sitting fourth in points, 28 points out of the lead is Mini Tyrrell, who is tied with Lewis for the most wins on the season with three. Tyrrell’s season has had the highest of highs and the lowest of lows since the drop of the first green flag. The Manassas, Virginia driver was caught up in an early crash in the season-opener, which resulted in a  21st-place finish. He scored a DNF with a 26th-place finish at Orange County, another DNF at Langley with a 20th-place finish to go with it after running inside the top two all race, and then a third DNF with a 24th-place finish when he, Lewis, and Huffman all crashed while battling for the win at Caraway. He also finished 17th at Ace after getting caught up in a crash on a restart. But when things have been good for Tyrrell, they’ve been terrific. He has three wins on the year, the most in a single CARS Tour season in his career, as well as finishes of second at Cordele, third at North Wilkesboro, and sixth at Anderson.

Fortunately for Tyrrell, he has tracks coming up that definitely favor his driving style of high grip and high speed. And even though we say that, Tyrrell has been good at the extremely abrasive Florence Motor Speedway where he’s finished sixth each of the last two years.

So how does this championship battle play out over the final four races? We have no idea. All we know is that Friday’s race at Florence, September 13th at South Boston Speedway, October 4th at Tri-County Speedway, and October 18th at North Wilkesboro Speedway are all must-see races if you’re a CARS Tour fan.
