Qualifying for the CARS Tour Throwback Classic presented by FloRacing at Hickory Motor Speedway is in the books, and what an interesting qualifying session it was. Starting on the pole position for the $50,000 Late Model Stock Car race is 14-year-old Tristan McKee, while Spencer Davis claimed the top starting position for the $30,000 Pro Late Model feature.

But the bigger story of the night was who struggled in qualifying, because that list, especially on the Late Model Stock Car side, is full of some big names.

The LMSC points leader, Connor Hall and his JR Motorsports team, were forced to take a provisional. Hall, who entered the weekend with a six-point lead over Landen Lewis, will start 25th after qualifying 31st fastest with a best lap of 14.993 seconds. Kade Brown, Donovan Strauss, and defending race winner Ronnie Bassett Jr. will all start near the tail of the field after taking provisionals.

Meanwhile, other big names like Ryan Millington, who nearly won this race a year ago, Brandon Pierce, Parker Eatmon, and Conner Jones will all be in the 14-car Last Chance Race on Saturday evening. Only the top two finishers will advance to the rear of the 30-car starting field for the main event.
