Before The Granddaddy of Them All—the Knoxville Nationals—goes down next week at Knoxville Raceway, the 360 Nationals first sets the stage for a lucrative, action-packed 10-day stretch at Knoxville, Iowa's Marion County Fairgrounds.
Austin McCarl held back Kyle Larson to capture Thursday's qualifying night at the 35th annual Xtream Powered by Mediacom 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank, which culminates with Saturday's $35,000-to-win finale.
Pole-starting Chase Randall finished fifth after leading the first 16 of 20 laps. McCarl led the final four laps and topped Larson by 1.569 seconds at the checkers. Sam Hafertepe Jr. and Kaylee Bryson were among non-qualifiers.
