In the wake of rainouts Friday at Williams Grove Speedway and Saturday at Lincoln Speedway, Pennsylvania Speedweek finally completed its first-round event to kick off the 35th annual miniseries presented by Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews on Sunday with a 46-car field at BAPS Motor Speedway.

Danny Dietrich stormed from the fourth-starting spot and controlled the final 27 of 30 laps to claim the $12,000 miniseries opener at the 4/10-mile oval for the second year in a row. 

The two-time PA Speedweek champ held off pole-starting Chase Dietz, who attempted a slider for the lead with seven laps left but couldn't make it stick, by 0.667 seconds. Second-starting Lucas Wolfe paced the opening three laps before fading to finish 15th.

Driving the Kreitz Racing No. 69k, Ryan Smith finished third from the fifth-starting spot. Freddie Rahmer and two-time reigning Speedweek champ Anthony Macri (started 11th) rounded out the top-five. Lance Dewease earned hard-charger by finishing 12th from the 21st-starting spot.

Dietrich's victory marks his 16th all-time on PA Speedweek, which moves him within 10 triumphs of Greg Hodnett's 26 for third all-time. Sunday also marked Dietrich's eighth victory over his last 16 starts at BAPS.

Tyler Walker (scratched before start of C-main) were among those who failed to qualify for the main event.
