Williams Grove Speedway and Pennsylvania Speedweek officials have cancelled this evening's $10,000-to-win miniseries opener at the half-mile because of unfavorable weather conditions.

The PA Speedweek opening night program was called off roughly 30 minutes before 7 p.m. scheduled hot laps Friday due to "persistent mist hanging over the speedway." Mother Nature has now claimed 12 of 17 scheduled events at Williams Grove this year.

"We did everything we could to get tonight's racing action in with a promising forecast earlier today, but unfortunately the persistent mist hanging over the speedway has forced us to cancel," the track said in its social media announcement.

The half-mile hosts the eighth round of PA Speedweek next Friday with the $20,000-to-win Mitch Smith Memorial with Lincoln Speedway now serving as the opener with its $15,000-to-win program Saturday.

Thirty-six drivers were signed into the Speedweek opener at Williams Grove Speedway: Aaron Bollinger (19A), Alex Attard (53), Austin Bishop (35), Billy Dietrich (8D), Brady Bacon (20), Brock Zearfoss (8), Cameron Smith (75), Chad Trout (1), Chase Dietz (23), Chris Arnold (23A), Cole Knopp (6), Danny Dietrich (48), Dave Grube (3D), Dylan Norris (17), Freddie Rahmer (51), Jeff Halligan (45), Jordan Givler (2D), Jordan Thomas (39), Justin Whittall (67), Kody Hartlaub (95), Kyle Moody (99m), Lance Dewease (12), Logan Wagner (55), Lucas Wolfe (5w), Matt Campbell (X), Preston Lattomus (91), Reese Nowotarski (10x), Ryan Newton (66), Ryan Smith (6), Ryan Taylor (1x), Samuel Miller (45s), Steve Buckwalter (17B), T.J.
