North Carolina Race Track Announces Immediate Closure
Jacksonville, North Carolina's New River All-American Speedway is closing its doors effective immediately.

New River All-American Speedway in Jacksonville, North Carolina will be closing its doors effective immediately as per a posting on the track’s Facebook page by track management on Wednesday morning.
“Over the last several weeks and months we’ve had many discussions about the future of New River,” said track management on Facebook. “Yesterday, we made the tough decision to close the doors. For those of you who supported New River, thank you will never be enough.”
New River All-American Speedway opened originally as Coastal Plains Raceway in 1999. The track has been closed for an extended period of time once before, with nearly a seven-year absence from action between 2014 and 2021.
In 2021, Anthony and Tonya Goodyear took over management of the facility and renamed the 4/10-mile D-shaped oval as “Goodyear All-American Speedway.” The track was once again renamed to New River All-American Speedway prior to the 2023 racing season.
Throughout its history the track has hosted a variety of touring divisions including the CARS Tour, SMART Modified Tour, NASCAR Dash Series and NASCAR All Pro Series, as well as the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series and UARA STARS Late Model Series.
NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. competed in the 2024 CARS Tour race at New River, bringing a sold-out crowd out to the facility, resulting in one of the biggest nights the track had ever held.
The SMART Modified Tour was scheduled to compete at New River All-American Speedway on Friday, August 29 as part of its annual "SMART Beach Trip" doubleheader weekend.
New River’s last race was held this past weekend with Brody Rhodes (Legends), Aiden McConnaughey (Chargers), Brian Gooden (Rumbler), Charlie Mercer (Bomber), and Kristin Drum (Powder Puff) all scoring victories.
