CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Hudson O'Neal of Martinsville, Ind., outdueled Jonathan Davenport early, then held off late challenges from Brandon Overton to capture Thursday's $12,000 Buckeye Spring 50 at Atomic Speedway.

O'Neal led the first lap and the final 24 to notch his third consecutive Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory. The 22-year-old grabs hold of the series points in the process, too. It's also O'Neal's fifth win of the season, all in the last 12 races.

Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga., finished second, .303 of a second behind O'Neal, and Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., rounded out the podium in third. Kyle Larson of Elk Grove, Calif. — and Thursday's winner with the accompanying All Star Circuit of Champions — started 14th and finished fourth. Davenport, who led laps 2-26, faded to finish fifth.

Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., who on Thursday announced he's switching to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series from the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series, earned hard-charger with a 22nd-to-eighth drive.

Winning Quote From Hudson O'Neal

What a race man, that cushion was really treacherous and I made a bunch of mistakes on it, but it was just so big and built up on the wall, it was real forgiving. You could make a little mistake and it not hurt you,” said O'Neal, who has 20 career Lucas Oil victories. “To be able to come back after a long break, you know we’ve had speed and that break was killing us, sitting around and we were ready to get going.
