The second running of the Kyle Larson Late Model Challenge will be held Thursday night at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. Promoted by NASCAR star Kyle Larson and FloRacing, the event is headlined by a $20,000-to-win dirt late model race. This year's race will include NASCAR stars Kyle Larson, Kyle Busch and Chase Briscoe competing against many of the best drivers in dirt late model racing.

Kyle Larson prevailed in a thrilling battle with Jonathan Davenport to win the Kyle Larson Late Model Challenge. Larson and Davenport swapped the lead multiple times during the 50-lap feature, bringing fans to their feet at Volunteer Speedway. 

Larson took the lead back from Davenport for the final time with 14 laps to go with a huge slide-job in turn one. From there, Larson beat down the boards and drove his car to victory lane with a flat left rear tire.

Jonathan Davenport set the overall fastest time in qualifying with a lap of 12.580 seconds. Kyle Larson set fast time in Group 2 Qualifying with a lap of 12.820.

Kyle Larson Late Model Challenge Hot Laps 

Hudson O'Neal turned in the fastest time during hot laps, circling the 4/10-mile oval in 12.636 seconds. Dale McDowell, Chris Madden, Jensen Ford and Jonathan Davenport completed the top five.

What To Expect At The Kyle Larson Late Model Challenge

There's one word to describe Volunteer Speedway: FAST. The 4/10-mile oval known as "The Gap" features 32 degrees of banking in the corners and is known as one of the fastest dirt tracks in the world. 

While the race will be filled with star power, fans will want to keep an eye on the group of home state drivers from the Volunteer State. Mike Marlar defended his home turf last year and will once again be a favorite to claim the $20,000 check. "The Newport Nightmare" Jimmy Owens (Newport, TN) will be a favorite to win, while Cory Hedgecock (Loudon, TN) could be considered a sleeper to steal the win.

NASCAR Stars Kyle Larson, Kyle Busch & Chase Briscoe Racing At Volunteer Speedway

A trio of NASCAR Cup Series stars will be competing in the Kyle Larson Late Model Challenge before making their way to Bristol Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Food City Dirt Race. In addition to promoting the race, Larson will strap in behind the wheel of the Kevin Rumley prepared No. 6 dirt late model. Kyle Busch will drive one of Brandon Overton's No. 76b dirt late models, while Chase Briscoe will drive one of Kyle Strickler's cars.
