The Joe & Nick Memorial Preview
The Joe & Ed Fabrizius Memorial has had only one repeat winner in its 13-year history, but fans worldwide can see if the streak of new winners starts over.
For 13 years, the Joe and Nick Memorial has been one of the most hotly contested late model races in its region.
In the first 12 years, no one was able to win it more than once until Jay Brendle finally repeated in 2015/2016, but fans worldwide have the opportunity to see if anyone can make history when the race streams LIVE on FloRacing.com on Saturday, June 10, at Sycamore Raceway in Maple Park, IL.
Joe and Nick Fabrizius had the vision of creating a family friendly race track in the early 1960s. The track was ready to host big league races in 1963, and after all these years, it is still family-owned. That sense of family is still part of the ambience of this track, as it is the only clay track in the Chicago area that can lay claim to the distinction.
After the passing of Joe and Nick, their family created a night to honor them. The first edition of this race was held in 2004. Since that debut, the Joe and Nick Memorial has been one of the most coveted prizes in Midwestern Late Model racing.
Every year, race distances for Super Late Models are increased by one lap to reflect the age of the track and make it just it a just a little more difficult to win. That seems to be working, as there has not yet been a repeat winner yet. This year, a bonus has been added to the pot for anyone who can repeat.
The 2017 edition of this race will be contested over 54 laps.
