Restarts were the difference maker in the second annual Dalton Myers 54, and Steve Mathis Jr. saved his best for last at East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, FL, on Saturday.

Doug Horton and Kyle Vansickle lined up on the front row for the start, and that allowed Horton to scoot off to a lead. On a mid-race restart, Mark Whitener took the lead for a lap, but Horton got back around.

Then a lap later, Kyle Bronson cycled into the lead. Jack Nosbisch Jr. assumed the lead on a restart, but the final green flag attempt belonged to Mathis — who held on to win the biggest race of his career.
