There is always a big entry list when the Late Models descend on Eldora Speedway for the World 100 and the first night of the big show was no exception. 104 drivers showed up to race the twin 25-lap features with $10,000 on the line. The field was separated into an odd and even features.
Darrell Lanigan won the odd feature after passing long-time race leader Jonathan Davenport, who led the first 18 laps after starting outside pole and passing Eddie Carrier Jr. for the lead on the first lap. Davenport was 17th fastest in qualifying putting third to start the seventh heat of the night, the No. 49 showed his dominance in the heat winning with a massive lead over Jon Henry.
Lanigan, who also won his heat, patiently cut into Davenport’s lead making it around him on lap 18 and extended his lead to win by 1.055 seconds.
Davenport settled for second, and Jimmy Mars, Mike Marlar, and last year’s winner Bobby Pierce rounded out the top five.
