Tim Shaffer scooted out to an early lead and stayed ahead of the opening-lap carnage to win night one of the Knoxville 360 Nationals.

For the second straight night, a driver earned his first win at Knoxville. In night two of the 360 Nationals, Greg Hodnett moved up from fifth to win and lock into Friday's feature.

David Gravel set fast time, won his heat and the preliminary feature to score a perfect 500 in Knoxville Nationals qualifying for the first time since Steve Kinser did it in 1992--the same year Gravel was born.

Qualifying through night three of the Knoxville Nationals is known as making the big show the Hard Knox way. Jason Johnson dominated the evening, won the A-Main, and will line up 17th on Saturday.
