Dave Blaney won the second night of the Open Wheel Championship at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, OH. Blaney stole the lead from Chad Kemenah with a last corner pass before the checkered flag waved.
Blaney started the feature outside the pole and never fell further back than third position. Lee Jacobs challenged him for second a few times during the race but Blaney secured his spot for a final time on lap 18 after a caution. By then the only driver in Blaney’s crosshairs was Kemenah who led the first 29 and ¾-laps before Blaney made his race winning move.
“I think his car was definitely better,” Blaney said about Kemenah. “He got hung up in traffic and I was able to get a lucky break. I feel bad for Chad. I’ve lost some races that way and it really sucks. Regardless, I’m really excited for my guys. We don’t get to race a whole lot, so to come out here and win is big for us; this is a big night.”
Kemenah settled for second after a dominate night and Lee Jacobs rounded out the podium.
