FASTRAK World Championship Is The Ultimate Pro Late Model Race

For pro late model racers, the stage doesn't get any bigger than the FASTRAK World Championship at Virginia Motor Speedway. The richest race in pro late model racing returns Saturday, September 24 with a $50,000 winner's check on the line.

Virginia Motor Speedway and the FASTRAK Racing Series will host the FASTRAK World Championship this weekend for the first time since 2019. The event was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and as a result of the nationwide tire shortage in 2021.

National dirt late model star Brandon Overton claimed the $50,000 victory in thrilling fashion in 2019. That year, 115 pro late model drivers entered and attempted to qualify for the race.

A huge car count is once again expected in 2022, with drivers traveling to Jamaica, Virginia from all over the east coast.

2018 FASTRAK World Championship winner Logan Roberson and 2015 race winner Walker Arthur are among the drivers who have been announced on the track's Facebook page.

Former winners of the FASTRAK World Championship include: Brandon Overton (2019), Logan Roberson (2018), Ross Bailes (2017), Dennis Franklin (2016) and Walker Arthur (2015).

Racing is slated to get underway Friday night at 5 p.m. ET with two rounds of hot laps, qualifying and heat races for the FASTRAK Racing Series.

On Saturday night, on-track action gets underway at 7 p.m. with B-Mains, a $1,500-to-win non-qualifiers race and the 60-lap FASTRAK World Championship.

The FASTRAK World Championship A-Main will include two 30-lap segments with a 10-minute break between segments. During that break, teams will be allowed to make adjustments and change the right rear tire.

Fans unable to attend the event in person will be able to watch Friday and Saturday's racing live on FloRacing. If you're not already a FloRacing subscriber, click here to sign up today.
