Update On Nick Hoffman And Family Following Highway Crash
Nick Hoffman and his father are making progress in their recoveries following a serious motor vehicle accident at the end of last week
Dirt Modified ace Nick Hoffman, his father, Darrell, and a crew member were involved in a serious motor vehicle accident Thursday night while travelling to the Midwest. Hoffman and his father are still in a Kentucky hospital recovering from their injuries, though they are making progress.
According to Hoffman’s sister, Ashly Hoffman Burnett, Hoffman suffered a broken jaw and cheekbone and was sedated for two days immediately following the crash. Their father, Darrell, has a full brace around his torso.
Hoffman was able to update the racing world himself on Monday night with a tweet that said, “Laying in a hospital bed. Didn’t know what happened to me until a couple hours ago. Incredible amount of support. Thanks to everyone for reaching out. Dad is struggling, but I am starting to feel better.”
While details of the incident are still scarce, Hoffman said in a tweet that they hit a slower truck on the side of the road.
“Our toter is pretty much junk,” he said. “Hopefully the trailer can be saved.”
On Tuesday morning, Hoffman tweeted again that he is starting to feel better, and that he should be released “anytime” because the medical staff no longer believes he needs surgery on his face.
I am starting to feel better. Originally they talked about doing a surgery on my face but that’s not the case now. I should be released anytime. Dad is still under a ton of pain and not very mobile. Needs a wheelchair. I asked the doctor if I could race this weekend and told no.

Fortunately, Hoffman said he is feeling good enough to the point that he asked his doctor if he could race this weekend, and according to his sister, the doctor replied with an emphatic “no” answer.
Since news of the crash broke early Friday morning, friends and family have established a GoFundMe page to help Hoffman, his father, and their crew member, Mason Beadles, with funds to put towards their medical expenses. That page can be found here.
