The action is underway at the MB Tractor & Equipment Southwick National as the 50th Anniversary of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship reaches its halfway point at the legendary sand track that is The Wick 338 in Massachusetts. Qualifying is complete, with the primary challengers to the championship point lead in each class setting the tone for the afternoon.
The 450 Class saw a familiar name at the top, as Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing's Eli Tomac continued his recent surge of momentum with another top qualifier effort. His time of 2:09.019 in the first session of the morning just narrowly edged out Fire Power Honda's Max Anstie and his time of 2:09.086. Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jason Anderson rounded out the top three with a time of 2:09.525.
In the 250 Class, Team Honda HRC's Jett Lawrence began his rebound effort following a heartbreaking outing one week ago in the best way possible. The young Aussie was determined to make a statement to start the day and led the way with a time of 2:09.153 from the first session. He was the lone 250 Class rider to break into the 2:09 bracket, with an advantage of more than 1.5 seconds on Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing's Justin Cooper in second (2:10.802), while Team Honda HRC's Hunter Lawrence, the current point leader, followed in third with a time of 2:11.911.
