Silver Cup At Lernerville Kicks Off New York And PA July All-Star Swing

Despite a two-weekend break following Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Hercules Tires, the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 are ready to move forward, set to invade a trio of tracks between Wednesday, July 6, and Saturday, July 9, all of which kicking-off with the 31st edition of the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, July 6.

Honoring legendary Lernerville Speedway track promoter Don Martin, the annual Silver Cup not only boasts as the highest-paying sprint car event on the Lernerville dockett, but it’s one of the largest paying programs on the 2022 All Star campaign with a top prize equaling $25,000. Now under All Star sanction, the 2021 Silver Cup was contested as a World of Outlaws event with Grass Valley, California’s Brad Sweet scoring the big payday. The now three-time World of Outlaws champion outdueled Donny Schatz and Aaron Reutzel.

Lernerville hosted the All Stars on one occasion already in 2022 with Sikeston, Missouri’s Hunter Schuerenberg earning high honors. It was Hunter Percent’s first victory of the season and his first All Star triumph since nailing down a career first at Stateline one season prior.

After an off-day on Thursday, July 7, All Star competition will resume with a two-day sweep through the Empire State, first setting aim on a visit to Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville, New York, on Friday, July 8. The Friday night showcase will award a $12,000 payday simultaneously igniting what will be the first of two New York swings for the traveling All Stars this season; the second to occur in late August.

A two-hour jaunt south will take the All Star Circuit of Champions to Stateline Speedway in Busti, New York, for a $6,000-to-win headliner on Saturday, July 9. An annual destination for “America’s Series,” Vermeer Motorsports’ Hunter Schuerenberg is the defending race winner, outrunning Zeb Wise and Justin Peck for the $6,000 share. As noted, it was Schuerenberg’s first-ever All Star victory.

“Sunshine” Tyler Courtney, ace of the Clauson Marshall Racing No. 7BC, will lead the All Star charge into Western Pennsylvania on Wednesday afternoon, on top of the current title chase by 38 markers over Buch Motorsports’ Justin Peck. Courtney owns three victories during points competition with his most recent occurring at Waynesfield Raceway Park during Ohio Sprint Speedweek. Peck is a four-time winner this season, two of which accomplished during Ohio Sprint Speedweek while visiting Wayne County Speedway and Atomic Speedway, respectively. Peck’s wins helped propel the Monrovia, Indiana, native to the overall Speedweek title.

Sam McGhee Motorsports’ Parker Price-Miller is third in the All Star title chase, followed by Lane Racing’s Cap Henry and Wise-Priddy Racing’s Zeb Wise.

Adding to the All Stars’ late August schedule, and making up for its canceled program from earlier in the season, Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania, will now host the All Star Circuit of Champions on Sunday, August 28, capping what is now a five-race swing through Pennsylvania Posse Country, and New Jersey, on Wednesday through Sunday, August 24-28. Bloomsburg Fair Raceway in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, will ignite the swing on Wednesday, followed by consecutive stops at Bridgeport Speedway in Bridgeport, New Jersey, on Thursday, Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, on Friday, Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, and Bedford on Sunday.
