Very few events in American motorsports history have paid one million dollars or more to win. The Eldora Million at Eldora Speedway is one of those events.

First held in 2001 at one of America's most historic dirt tracks, blue collar racer Donnie Moran claimed the biggest prize in dirt racing history. Now, 21 years later, the event is returning to Eldora Speedway on June 8-9 to give today's generation of dirt racers the chance to score a life-changing victory.

The event will be streamed live on FloRacing, a live motorsports streaming platform that will stream over 2,000 live motorsports events in 2022.

While the Eldora Million is undoubtedly the richest race in dirt racing history, it is also in an elite class of motorsports events across the board. The list of oval racing events paying one million dollars or more to win includes the most recognizable event names in racing.

NASCAR no longer releases purse information for their events, but multiple reports estimate that 2021 Daytona 500 winner Austin Cindric claimed somewhere between $1.5 million and $2 million for his win in February.

In 2021, Helio Castroneves pocketed just over $1.6 million for winning the prestigious Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Lastly, as is tradition, 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson claimed the $1 million prize for winning the NASCAR All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway last June.

Bill Elliott earned the nickname "Million Dollar Bill" by winning the Winston Million in 1985 and Jeff Gordon claimed the million dollar bonus in 1997; however, those bonuses were earned by winning three races.

The three events mentioned above, as well as the inaugural Eldora Million in 2001, are the only single events in American motorsports history that have paid $1 million or more to win.

Held at the Rossburg, Ohio race track owned by former NASCAR champion Tony Stewart, the Eldora Million is unlike any of the other events mentioned above. This event is for the blue collar, grassroots racer, many of which work day jobs to help pay for the costs associated with racing.

When we say that winning the Eldora Million will be life-changing, we're not exaggerating.

One year ago, Brandon Overton enjoyed one of the richest seasons in Dirt Late Model history and his 31 wins earned him $736,575. He could win all of that and a quarter of a million dollars more just by winning one race held in the middle of corn fields in Ohio.

Qualifying and preliminary races for the second running of the Eldora Million will be held on Wednesday, June 8. That will help set the stage for qualifying heats, last chance showdowns and one of the richest motorsports events of all-time on Thursday, June 9.
