Quick Recap

Mike Marlar and Kyle Larson led the field to the green flag for 50 laps of racing. Marlar jumped out to the early lead as Larson, Davenport and Owens swapped positions two through four. While the rest of the field battled for position, Marlar remained untouched and led all 50 laps to secure the $20,000 victory. Owens and Bloomquist both made their way by Larson in the closing laps to complete the podium.

Notes

William Byron, the only multi-time NASCAR Cup Series winner this season, will be making his debut behind the wheel of a Dirt Late Model. Byron will be behind the wheel of the Mike Nuchols Warrior Chassis house car.

- Jonathan Davenport enters the race as the most recent winner of a major Late Model race at Volunteer Speedway. Davenport won the Castrol FloRacing Night in America finale at the track on his way to clinching the championship last October.

- Chris Madden enters the race ranked number one in the latest DirtonDirt.com power rankings. Madde has an impressive resume at Volunteer with nine career wins at the track.

- Dale McDowell is another driver to keep an eye on in Bulls Gap. The veteran racer who is currently ranked second in the DoD power rankings has eight carer wins at Volunteer.

- Running an outlaw schedule in 2022, Dirt Late Model legend Scott Bloomquist has entered the race with hopes of getting back to victory lane in his home state.

- Clint Bowyer, who is currently an analyst for NASCAR on Fox, will join Ben Shelton and Dustin Jarrett in the broadcast booth for the event.

What To Expect Thursday Night

Kyle Larson has a big vision for the Late Model Challenge powered by Tezos. While he knows that vision will not be seen in year one, he's hoping to eventually turn this race into something that resembles the Prelude to the Dream that was previously held at Eldora Speedway. Located less than an hour away from Bristol Motor Speedway, the event will provide NASCAR stars with an opportunity to race Dirt Late Models like they did from 2005-2012 at the Prelude.

This year, the event will see a star-studded field of Dirt Late Model racers competing against Larson and his Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron. The mixture of dirt and NASCAR talent should make for an exciting show at the high-banked dirt oval in Bulls Gap.

Format

Qualifying, heat races and b-mains will set what is expected to be a 22-car field for the 50-lap main event.
