South Boston Speedway: The Home Of Big Events In 2022

When you think of big events in the Late Model Stock Car world, you think of South Boston Speedway. The 4/10-mile oval hosts some of the biggest events and best drivers in the Southeast each year and it all starts this Saturday night, March 19.

South Boston’s Late Model Stock Car division boasts some of the biggest names the discipline has to offer, including defending NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series national champion Peyton Sellers.

The track’s 2022 season kicks off with two 65-lap features for the Late Model Stocks. The second event of the year for the Late Models is the first 100-lap showdown on April 2.

The fun thing about going to South Boston or watching a race from South Boston live on FloRacing is that the shortest total distance the Late Models will race in a single night throughout the season is 100 laps, which they will do five times. The other nights consist of twin 65-lap or 75-lap features, and then of course the Thunder Road Harley Davidson 200.

That race is the biggest of the season at South Boston, and it takes place on July 2. The Thunder Road Harley Davidson 200 is part of the Virginia Triple Crown, along with the Hampton Heat at Langley Speedway and the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway.

In addition to the strong slate of Late Model Stock Car events, the track’s weekly offering consists of three more divisions, the Sportsman, Pure Stocks and Hornets.

“Fans will see the largest variety of racing series and racing events this season that has been offered here in several years,” said track general manager, Chase Brashears.

“We are excited about the variety of racing series and events that will be featured here this season and the great competition we always see with all of our NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series events. There will be plenty of things for everyone to enjoy here at South Boston Speedway this season.”

South Boston Speedway will also play host to the ground-pounding SMART Modified Tour on Saturday, April 2. The Mighty Modifieds will race for 99 laps that evening, and will be joined on the card by the Late Model Stock Cars, Hornets and Champ Karts.

The Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) will visit South Boston on June 25th, the second race for the series’ second season, and the CARS Tour Late Models will visit on Saturday, October 22nd, though neither race will be broadcast on FloRacing.

With all of that said, if you can get yourself to Virginia’s South Boston Speedway for an event this year, you won’t be disappointed. And if you can’t, it’s okay because FloRacing has you covered live all season long.
