61 Modifieds have made their way to Cherokee Speedway for this weekend's inaugural Short Track Super Series Elite race.

GAFFNEY, SC – Practice night is in the books. The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco completed Open Practice on Thursday night.

The first night of the three-day weekend set the stage for the first race of the Halmar International ‘Elite’ Series, a six-race mini-series paying a minimum of $25,000-to-win at each event.

Frenchtown, N.J.’s Billy Pauch Jr. laid down the quickest lap overall for STSS Modifieds with 61 cars on hand. The ‘Kid’s Kid’ went around the banked three-eighths-mile at a time of 15.483 seconds in the first session which stood up through all five practice sessions.

Branchburg, N.J.’s Ryan Krachun (15.681 & 15.950 seconds) had the quickest time in both the second and fourth sessions. Savannah, N.Y.’s Matt Sheppard (15.780), and Potsdam, N.Y.’s Mike Maresca (16.118)each laid down quick times in the third and fifth sessions, respectively.

Mexico, N.Y.’s Addison Bowman (17.153) was the quickest overall for the STSS Crate 602 Sportsman, timing fastest overall and turning the quickest lap in two different sessions.

Boyertown, Pa.’s Logan Watt (17.202), Middlesex, N.J.’s Matthew Ellery (17.243), Hamburg, Pa.’s Craig Whitmoyer (17.301) were the other three quick timers in the remaining three sessions.

Tomorrow night (February 25), Penske Racing Shocks presents Qualifying Night for the ‘Rebel 50’ at the ‘Place Your Mama Warned You About.’

The STSS Modifieds take part in 20-lap qualifiers to determine their starting positions for the ‘Rebel 50.’ The Modified qualifiers pay $1,000-to-win and $200-to-start.

The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman run 15-lap qualifiers that pay $500-to-win and $100-to-start.

The Mid-East Street Stocks ($1,000 to win) and Thunder Bombers ($700 to win) also join the night, running full programs to complete the night.

All gates open at 4 p.m. Hot laps begin at 7 p.m. and racing is scheduled to get under way at 7:45 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $15 for Adults (13 & over). Kids 12 & under get in FREE. Two-day grandstand passes will be available as well for $40.

Pit Admission is $35 for Adults and Kids 12 & under get in FREE. Two-day pit passes are also available for $75.
