GAFFNEY, SC – The inaugural Halmar International ‘Elite’ Series event for the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco is just one day away.

One of the biggest weekends in Modified racing history is set to take place with the ‘Rebel 50’ at Gaffney, S.C.’s Cherokee Speedway. “The Place Your Mama Warned You About” is the setting for the kickoff to the six-race series paying a minimum of $25,000 to win at each event.

One of the largest and most diverse fields for the 2022 season will be on hand, taking their best shot at the top prize and to be the first driver in victory lane with the Halmar International ‘Elite’ Series for the STSS.

Upwards of 50 STSS Modifieds are expected to race for 30 starting spots in the 50-lap main event.

The three-day race weekend begins tomorrow with an open practice for both the STSS big-block/small-block Modifieds and the STSS Crate 602 Sportsman. Gates open at 4 p.m. with practice rounds to begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at the 10 p.m. mark.

Penske Racing Shocks Qualifying Night takes place on Friday (February 25) for both the STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman.

The STSS Modifieds race in 20-lap qualifiers paying $1,000 to win and $200 to take the green each. The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman take part in 15-lap qualifiers that pay $500-to-win and $100-to-start.

The local Mid-East Street Stocks ($1,000 to win) and Thunder Bombers ($700 to win) will also be on hand for Penske Racing Shocks Qualifying Night for full programs.

Gates once again open at 4 p.m. with hot laps set to begin at 7 p.m. and racing to follow at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.

The main event occurs on Saturday (February 26), with the $25,000-to-win ‘Rebel 50’ for the STSS Modifieds. The 50-lap, history making event kicks off the richest series in Northeast Modified history.

The night begins with B-Mains for both the STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman to set the final starting lineups for both divisions.

The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman will run their 30-lap, $2,000-to-win feature event on Saturday as well, along with the Mid-East Street Stocks ($1,500 to win) and the SHARP Mini Late Models ($1,000 to win).

John Schneider, the star of the hit television show ‘Dukes of Hazzard,’ will serve as the Grand Marshal for the main event on Saturday.

Gates open at 2 p.m. on Saturday with a meet and greet with John Schneider taking place from 3-4 p.m. at behind the grandstands.

Hot laps begin at 5 p.m. with racing to follow at 6 p.m.

Sunday, February 27 is reserved as a rain date for the weekend.
