Breaking: Kyle Busch To Race Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout
NASCAR Cup Series star Kyle Busch will make his Micro Sprint debut in the Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout.
Just when you think the 37th annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout can’t get any bigger, the “Mecca of Micros” always finds a way to one-up itself.
On Tuesday, it was announced that two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch will compete in this week's Tulsa Shootout.
"Rowdy" is set for quadruple duty in the four major classes which include Winged Outlaw, Outlaw Non-Wing, Stock Non-Wing, and A-Class.
He’ll drive a pair of entries field by Joe B. Miller, a micro sprint ace who already has a Golden Driller on his mantle from the 2017 Tulsa Shootout, which he won from dead last (24th) in a historic race.
While Busch is not known as a dirt track racer, he does have a handful of starts on dirt during his career. In addition to the NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2021, he has raced at Eldora Speedway, The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and I-70 Speedway during his career.
In 2012, Busch emerged victorious in the Prelude to the Dream event held at Eldora Speedway.
Busch joins fellow Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Christopher Bell and Truck Series stars such as Hailie Deegan, Sheldon Creed, and Brett Moffitt as some of the noteworthy NASCAR names competing in the Tulsa Shootout this week.
A 222-time winner in NASCAR’s three premier series, Busch filled the void in Joe B’s machines when Australian Kaidon Brown was unable to make the trip overseas. He was already in Tulsa for his son Brexton, who will race in the Jr. Sprints division.
The “Mecca of Micros” unofficially begins Tuesday with practice all throughout the day in Tulsa’s SageNet Center. Heat Races start on Wednesday with more Heats & Semi Mains on Thursday, Qualifiers taking place on Friday, and the main events running on Saturday.
The 37th running of the Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout will be streamed live exclusively on FloRacing.
