National 100: This Weekend's Richest Dirt Late Model Race

As the racing season winds down in many areas of the country, motorsports enthusiasts in Alabama are in for a treat this weekend. The National 100 at East Alabama Motor Speedway is this weekend’s richest Dirt Late Model race, paying $20,000 to the winner of Sunday’s main event.

Since the inaugural National 100 in 1975, many of the biggest names in Dirt Late Model racing have added their name to the winner’s list. Jeff Purvis, Billy Moyer, Scott Bloomquist, Jimmy Mars, Jimmy Owens, Chris Madden, Jonathan Davenport and Dale McDowell are just a few of the names who have won the race.

Bloomquist is the race’s winningest driver with eight career victories, his last win coming in 2003.

Joseph Joiner, star of the popular YouTube channel “Hunt the Front,” claimed the win one year ago and plans to defend his victory this weekend.

Last weekend’s Fall Classic winner Dennis Erb Jr. and Randy “Dream” Weaver are among the list of drivers expected to enter the National 100.

On-track action at East Alabama Motor Speedway begins Thursday with practice at 7 p.m. ET.

Practice begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday night, leading into heat races for 602 Chargers, FWD Stocks and Street Stock at 7 p.m.
