Favorites come and favorites go at Eldora Speedway, but when the World 100 rolls around, Jonathan Davenport is seemingly always in the conversation.

After all, 37-year-old Blairsville, Ga., driver has captured Dirt Late Model racing's most prestigious event three times in the past five years, each time for different car owners in proving that his immense talents behind the steering wheel at Eldora are almost as legendary as the half-mile Rossburg, Ohio, oval itself.

The current driver of Batesville, Ark.-based Double L Motorsports returns to Eldora's late-summer classic with the chance to do something even he's never done at Eldora: win two World 100s in a 48-hour stretch.

The bearded Davenport and the rest of Dirt Late Model racing's best drivers will chase two globed trophies in the 51st and 50th annual World 100s after last season's event was postponed by pandemic restrictions.

Davenport won the 2020 Intercontinental Classic, the replacement race for the World 100.

Will Davenport rally from a ninth-row starting spot like he did in 2015? Or will he lead flag-to-flag like he did in 2017? Or perhaps come out on top of a lead-swapping battle like he did with Bobby Pierce in 2019?

Davenport will take his best shot. Can he reach the World 100 victory stage for the fourth — or even fifth — time?
