Briggs Sweeps Weekend with Montpelier Win

Stratton Briggs swept the weekend with his second straight USAC Midwest Thunder Speed2 Midget feature victory. It was his fourth win of the year.

Briggs (Anna, Ohio), who won the night before at Gas City I-69 Speedway, took over the lead from series point leader Aaron Leffel at the halfway point of Saturday’s 20-lap main event. He led the final 10 laps for the victory over Michael Magic, Leffel, Josh Chess and Tom Hessel. Briggs gained six points on Leffel toward the season championship race with two events remaining.
