Leary Holds The Lead Going Into Weekend

The final quarter of the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car season arrives this weekend with a two-race slate in the state of Indiana. Action starts on Friday (Sept. 13) at the Terre Haute Action Track and will finish up on Saturday, (Sept. 14) at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt.

Eleven events remain in the pursuit of a series title for point leader C.J. Leary, who holds a 121-point advantage. Tyler Courtney is in the runner-up seat entering the week, where he leads the series in feature wins, laps led, and heat race wins. Leary has gotten to this point on consistency. He has eight fast times recorded, 18 top-five finishes and 23 top-ten finishes, all of which are categories the Greenfield, Ind. driver leads the series in throughout his 24 starts. However, Leary has just one victory thus far that came in February. But he's been in the hunt night-after-night.

Brian VanMeveren (Woodbury, MN) holds a one-point lead in one of the closest Rookie of the Year races in series history. He leads Dustin Christie (Washington, IN) by a single marker entering Friday’s round at Terre Haute.
