Bryan Stanfill led the final seven laps in a back-and-forth battle with Tyler Roth to win his first career USAC Engler IMRA Speed2 Midget feature event Saturday at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill.

Stanfill, originally from Brea, Calif. but now residing in Brownsburg, Ind., led the opening two laps before Roth took control until lap six.  Stanfill stood up in the seat and back by Roth to lead the field for laps seven through nine.  Roth didn’t go away quietly, though, striking back to assume the point on the tenth lap before Stanfill took a stranglehold of the top spot on lap 14.

For Stanfill, a two-time USAC Western States Midget feature winner, it was his first USAC-sanctioned win in nearly two decades.  Stanfill’s two career Western States wins came in 1998 in Ventura, Calif. and in 2000 in Santa Maria, Calif.

Stanfill was followed to the line by Roth, point leader Andy Baugh, Kevin Battefeld and Jake Sollenberger.
