Jason McDougal will be in the seat of the Chris Dyson Racing No. 9 for this Saturday’s USAC Silver Crown Champ Car Series Bettenhausen 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield on August 17.

McDougal (Broken Arrow, Okla.) has made just two previous starts in his Silver Crown career and was spectacular in both.  His debut came in the Fall of 2018 aboard Dyson’s machine in the 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway where he started 7th and finished 4th.

This season, in one start for Daigh/Phillips Motorsports on the Indy Mile at the “Hoosier Hundred” in May, McDougal was the hard charger of the 100-miler, racing from his 25thstarting spot to a 6th place finish, and was the top Rookie finisher in both races.

McDougal has been a standout on both the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car and NOS Energy Drink National Midget trails this season.  He’s one of five drivers to win a feature event in both series this year alongside Tyler Courtney, Justin Grant, Kevin Thomas, Jr. and Chris Windom.

McDougal won during June’s Eastern Storm round at New Jersey’s Bridgeport Speedway, his second career USAC Sprint win.  He followed the victory up with his first career triumph in USAC’s Midget division during Mid-America Midget Week at Nebraska’s Jefferson County Speedway in July.  He stands 9th in both the Sprint and Midget points.

Meanwhile, Dyson’s car competed at Springfield in 2018 with Chris Dyson himself behind the wheel.  The Pleasant Valley, N.Y. pilot charged from the 28th starting spot to finish 13th.

The Bettenhausen 100 in Springfield gets underway with pits opening and registration starting at 7am (Central), the ticket office and grandstands opening at 9am, the drivers meeting at 9:30am, Silver Crown practice from 10am to 11:10am, Fatheadz Silver Crown Qualifying at 11:30am, Sportsman hot laps at noon, the Silver Crown Qualifying Race at 12:30pm, Sportsman heats at 1pm, pre-race ceremonies at 1:30pm and the Bettenhausen 100-mile race at 2pm.

Tickets will be available on raceday or by calling the State Fair office at 217-782-1979. Info and tickets can also be obtained by calling the Track Enterprises office at 217-764-3200.  Discount tickets for Sunday also available at Menards.  Advance Tickets (Presale) are $25 for adults and $10 for children 11 and under.  On race day, tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for children 11 and under.  Infield tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children 11 and under.  Pit passes are $35 for adults and $20 for children 11 and under.  Infield parking is $5 for those parking in the infield with no infield or pit passes.

This Saturday’s Springfield race can be watched LIVE and on-demand on FloRacing, listened to via live audio on the USAC app as well as live timing and scoring on both the USAC app and the Race-Monitor app.
