‘Superman’ Matt Sheppard is showing no signs of slowing down after picking up his sixth Super DIRTcar Series victory Sunday night at Weedsport Speedway. Sheppard rolled off in fourth-place for the Hall of Fame 100 but didn’t take long for him to break his way into that number one spot.

The 3/8-mile dirt oval was in great racing condition Sunday evening, showing fans and drivers some of the best side-by-side action throughout the entire field.

Erick Rudolph, who has visited the Weedsport Speedway victory lane several times, made his way through the field after starting in eleventh-place. Unfortunately, by the time Rudolph broke into second-place, Sheppard was checked out.

Mat Williamson, who has been getting his laps under his belt in his new ride, has been showing strong speed so far this season but is still itching for that first victory.

After starting on the front row for the main event, Williamson battled various contenders for that top spot, however, came up two spots short in the end.

Danny Johnson Inducted into the Dirt Hall of Fame

‘The Doctor’ Danny Johnson was inducted into the Hall of Fame Museum Thursday evening, located right on the grounds of Weedsport Speedway in New York.

Danny Johnson is one of the winningest drivers on the Super DIRTcar Series circuit today. Johnson has racked up 593 victories in the past four decades.

The newest inductee, Danny Johnson, made a surprise return behind the wheel of the Graham Racing machine for the Hall of Fame 100 on Sunday. After starting deep in the field for the main event, he was able to maneuver his way through and pick up a solid ninth-place finish.

Super DIRTcar Roundup

So far for the month of July, the Super DIRTcar Series has seen three different drivers make their way to victory lane.

Larry Wight picked up the victory early in the month at Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway as well as a guaranteed starting position in the Super DIRT Week 200 at Oswego Speedway.

Matt Sheppard has collected three victories thus far in the month of July. He won earlier in the month at Land of Legends Raceway, picked up his second victory in Quebec at Autodrome Granby, and his third victory at Weedsport Speedway.

Erick Rudolph’s tough luck seems to be turning around after he picked up the victory in Autodrome Drummond and just capped off another DIRTcar race at Weedsport Speedway with a second-place finish.

The Super DIRTcar Series stars and cars will now be heading west to close out their busy month of July in Ohio. Will the same drivers find their way back to victory lane in Ohio or will someone new toss their name into the mix?

The circuit will close out the month of July in Ohio with two scheduled races on tap. Tuesday evening they will be competing at Sharon Speedway and the following day they will be at Eldora Speedway.
