USAC East Coast Sprints Shine at Big Diamond

The USAC Rapid Tire East Coast Sprint Car Series hits Big Diamond Speedway in Pottsville, Pa. for the third time this season on Friday, July 19.

Series point leader and defending champion Steven Drevicki (Reading, Pa.) won at Big Diamond back in May and finished second in the ensuing trip to the track in June.  Interestingly, the top-four in the May race reside in the top-four, in the same order, of the series standings coming into this weekend’s race.

Chandler Leiby (Carlisle, Pa.) ran second in May and lies 37 points out of the lead behind Drevicki.  Leiby followed up with a 5th in June.  Eddie Strada (Lake Ariel, Pa.) comes into the Big Diamond race third in the standings (-44) after finishing 3rd at Big Diamond in May and 6th in June.  Strada won the most recent series race at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park in Fultonville, N.Y.

Chris Allen, Jr. (Wrightstown, N.J.) is 4th in the standings following 4th and 7th place finishes at Big Diamond in May and June, respectively.  Bill Unglert (Old Bridge, N.J.) rounds out the top-five in the points with finishes of 9th and 8th in two Big Diamond starts this season.

Timmy Buckwalter (Douglassville, Pa.) won the most recent series' visit to Big Diamond in June.

This Friday night, Modifieds, Sportsman and Roadrunners are also in action with the USAC East Coast Sprints.  Adult general admission is $25, seniors $23, kids 11-12 $10 and children 10 and under plus active military with valid ID are free.
